A Little Late

Whoops.. I totally missed Random Tuesday, but I'll just make this a random blog entry anyways. Shh.. don't tell.

Today is New Year's Eve, but it really doesn't feel like it to me at all. I realize that at 21 I am supposed to be out partying and drinking it up tonight, but I'm not feeling the partying (and for those of you that know me, you know that I am never "feeling" the drinking, either). I am tired.. and yes, I am old. I honestly feel like I am much older, but I don't know that I see that in a bad way. Here are the reasons I feel older than I am, but don't find them negative:

1) I am making a weekly meal plan so that I can budget my grocery spending and use my meal-preparing time more effectively.

2) I got excited to work for my grandma in order to put the money in..... SAVINGS!

3) I consistently choose staying home and just hanging out or cleaning instead of going out because it sounds better to me.

4) I created a business plan.

5) I just calculated how much money I will save on gas money and parking fees by switching two of my on-campus classes to web courses.

6) I am excited to buy a planner.

7) I am already trying to think of ways to pay off my student loans... even though I am a junior in college.

8) I am looking up tax credits and deductions (volunteer mileage!).

Here are some reasons that I feel old and I find negative:

1) My back hurts all the time.

2) I am always tired.

3) I don't understand the need for some of these new fangled electronic gadgets.

4) I see pictures of old classmates totally hammered and doing stupid things (like drugs) and think to myself that they are naive and irresponsible.
EDIT: Just realized that #4 is not negative. Scratch that.

5) I have to consider what I eat in terms of how it will make me feel and the fact that the ol' metabolism is not quite what it used to be.

Although I feel as if I am getting old, I am also excited about life! I think the positive "getting old" feelings are great because I just think I am learning to be responsible. So, as for 2010, I am ready to live more life and continue to learn new things. Here's to another great year, whether you are 18, 98, or 21 and just feel 98, let's make 2010 a year for the history books.

Christmas Craziness

Wow, Christmas is fast-approaching! Although it's always a little nuts this time of year, it is still my favorite.

Presents always seem like they are going to be easy and organized and then a couple days before the holidays, i.e. today, I start to realize things are not as organized as I had thought. I even made an excel sheet saying what I was buying/making each person, but the list just keeps getting longer! I'm nearing the end of the present-getting phase, and I'm excited to wrap them all, but sometimes making gifts can be so frustrating. I always imagine that I will make these awesome gifts, but then when I try, they end up being horrible. Hopefully I've made them acceptable enough so that my friends and family will like them.

Must Blog Fast

I have to make this blog quick because I have an essay to finish for tomorrow. Actually, using the word "finish" is probably a bit deceptive considering that makes it sound like I have gotten a pretty good start on it, which I have not. An introduction paragraph is better than nothing though, right?

After reading a wonderfully uplifting blog over at Frugal Mom Knows Best, I felt like I just had to blog!

So, it's been cold here in Oregon. REALLY, really, super cold. I love Winter, so this is great for me, but I also would like some snow! How great would that be, right when the term is ending to get some time to just sit down with some hot cocoa, a great Christmas movie, and a warm blanket while the snow gently falls down outside? Ah... that sounds so great! Back to REALITY though where I need to finish up this paper on the role of children in Nineteenth century literature.

Soon I am going to post a picture of the baby blankets I've made for Christmas presents so far (I am very proud of my extremely limited sewing ability).

Random Tuesday Thoughts- Entry #3!

My head is going to explode! School is kicking my butt this week. Next week is finals week and people normally think that finals week is the most stressful, but that is totally not true! I only have two finals next week... I can't wait for the down time I will have next week! Everything is due this week to get everything done and it is just so draining. Also, most of my teachers decided to have pretty much everything that makes up your grade due the last week of the term, so here I am after 10 weeks of class having no clue what grade I have. Now that I have adequately complained about that, I will move on.

I am so excited that it is the holiday season! I love this time of year. It went by WAY too fast last year, so I'm really happy that I feel like I am getting to take advantage of it more this year. This is my first Christmas in my apartment, so it's cool to have new things to decorate. I am thinking of cute and creative things to do to Christmas-ize this place, so that's been fun!

Yesterday was the 97th anniversary of the day that Oregon passed the law to let women vote. Go women! Vote it up!



I am totally fine with the Blazers game being on television tonight, but I am not okay with it eating away part of my Biggest Loser! Not cool NBC, not cool.

Alright, I think my randomness is up for now, so I must go watch BL and LOADS of homework!
