My Attempt at Interesting

A lot of the blogs that I read are about what people did during their day and they are really interesting, but then I can't seem to think of anything that would be interesting to post about my day or weekend. Here is my attempt:

Friday-I was able to get in a great workout, which of course made me feel terrific. I'm trying to find more time to work out because I really enjoy being fit, it's just making myself get up and do it that is hard. The weather has been unusually nice these last few days (sunshine!), so that always gets me in the mood to get out and move. Although that feels great, due to some health issues right now, I'm not able to go out and about whenever I want to and that is kind of bringing me down.

Saturday- Yesterday was my beautiful friend Kaylen's birthday! She is a wonderful friend and I love her dearly. I could only catch the beginning of the party, but check out her post here to read about her birthday bash! Then follow her blog because it is super entertaining.

Today- Today was a day like any other. The weather was nice again, so that was uplifting. I went and visited my parents for a bit and my dad showed me the impressive raised garden bed thingamabobber he is building. I don't remember what it is called, but it was well-built and great. Then I went and helped my friend pack up his apartment a bit because he is moving to another part of the state next week. After that it was a mad dash to the grocery store in order to get home in time for dinner and a movie with the BF. Since then I have just been watching more Olympics (I can't get enough of it!) and taking care of some things for the week.

I hope you all had great weekends!

Olympians Make Me Feel Lazy

Olympians make me feel lazy. Seriously, I watch them giving every last thing they have, pushing their perfectly in-shape bodies to their breaking point, working so hard to earn what they have been training for every day for the last 10 (or 20 or 30) years... as I sit on our couch scarfing down a cupcake. Can't they be a little more considerate of my feelings?

But in all seriousness, these athletes are awesome. Every event I watch makes me want to work that hard towards something. Unfortunately, I am the age that most of them are when they are competing at the Olympics, so I doubt I can make up that much time. Actually, some of those athletes are in their TEENS- how crazy is that?

I'm working on eating better and I've been working out, so I'm feeling pretty good, but I can't even imagine working so hard that your body could do the things that these people are doing. Good for them! But, they are still making me feel lazy, so when I'm watching I'll do some push-ups or some bench presses... do you think this will get me in Olympic shape for 2014? They can't be doing more than 10 push-ups a day for their training, right? Yeah, I'm sure my pizza and cupcake eating, along with those 10 push-ups or 25 jumping jacks will get me completely ready. Look for me in 2014!

"Well the weather outside is weather"

Wow, it's snow season over in the East. I just read that they got over four feet in some places- that's crazy! I just posted the other day about wanting summer, but I also wouldn't mind a bit more snow here before we move on. We got one day of a (surprise) snow storm, and that was nice, except that it came out of nowhere so no one was prepared and we all got stuck places. Still, it was kind of cool and my sisters and I were happy that we happened to be together when the snow showed up so we could squeal about it together. So... snow tomorrow would be nice (school day) and then next week we can start summer.

Are you listening to me weather? I've just told you the plan, so you don't even have to think about it. Ready... GO.

One Step at a Time

As the days pass after Sarah's death, everything seems to run together. I've gone to work, done homework, housework, laughed, cried, played games, etc, but it all seems a bit off. BF and I keep saying how it feels like she is on vacation and we are just waiting for her to get back. As the days pass though, it begins to get more and more real that she won't be coming back. So, in some ways, it is getting more normal to say that she is gone, but in other ways, it is getting more difficult. While we all knew that eventually she was going to pass, and even knew that it was going to be soon, it still feels like a shock. A big group of us (friends & family) have been getting together these past few days and playing games, telling stories, listening to music she loved (and we love), and eating (a lot). It's all a little surreal because, while we are doing exactly what I know she would want us to be doing- having fun and laughing- every once and awhile it gets silent and hits us all over again.

I've never dealt with anything like this before, so I hope that I am doing the right thing to celebrate her life and honor her memory. I think I should tell you all a little bit about Sarah because anyone that met her was lucky. Sarah was a fiesty, smart, hilarious person who was always there for her friends and family, whatever you needed. She didn't complain, even though we all knew she was in pain and had more than enough reasons to warrant complaints. She set the tone for how we all dealt with what was happening to her, and the tone she set was one of fun, laughter, and hapiness. Even when she was in the hospital and was weak, tired, and a bit out of it due to medications, she still was the entertainer, making us all laugh while in a truly un-funny situation. She was STRONG and didn't take crap from anyone. Her confidence was one of her best characteristics and has helped me to become a stronger person. She loved to make fun of herself and brought light and joy to all those around her every single time she laughed (many times to the point of tears).

I love you, Sarah and know that wherever you are, you are bringing hapiness and laughter to those around you.

Missing You

My beautiful friend Sarah passed away yesterday after a ten year battle with Cancer. She was such a strong, intelligent, hilarious, and kind person and I will miss her greatly. Sarah always had a positive attitude about life and never stopped to ask, "why me?" Instead, she asked, "anyone want to play Boggle?" and then she'd kick your ass at it. I am glad that she will no longer be in the pain that she was so bravely enduring. I love you Sarah and will miss you.

The Best Time to Get Sick...

I must have a complain party for a moment-

I'm sick and it is the worst possible time for me to feel this bad. This is the week of midterms, a horribly busy time at work, I am getting constant e-mails with more things that need to get done, and a whole bunch of outside stuff is going on and it is making me a little crazy. I NEED A BREAK.

Thank you for indulging me... Moving on.
Let's make this blog a place for us all to take a little time to say why we need a break, just so that we can get it out. Let's have a group therapy session, because it is very private (I have no clue who you are) and then we can all have a little more relaxed day.

Share away!
